Daniel Backs England's Campaign to Host 2018 World Cup

The Sun features a new photo of Daniel holding a "Back the Bid" scarf--the "Bid" refers to England's bid to host the 2018 World Cup.

Daniel is the two millionth person to back the campaign, and he took time out from shooting "Cowboys and Aliens" in New Mexico to show his support for the bid. His backing came as Fifa inspectors completed a four-day visit this week to check out England's stadiums and facilities.

England's main competition is Russia and the United States, as well as joint bids by Holland and Belgium and by Spain and Portugal. The winner will be announced on December 2.

Daniel Reminisces About 'Road to Perdition'

Geoff Boucher of the L.A. Times recently visited the set of "Cowboys and Aliens" and asked Daniel to discuss the film "Road to Perdition," which was just released on Blu-ray.

Daniel said about the 2002 film: "I'd like to see it again. That for me was an incredible experience, working with [Paul] Newman and [director of photography] Connie Hall. It was quite emotional on set actually. Connie and he had worked together forever. They had been through a lot. Newman had one foot in that old movie star era and one foot in the sort of modern era. He straddled it. He was a pure movie star in every sense of the world but he was a great, great actor."

New Interview with Daniel About His Future as James Bond

The Los Angeles Times has interviewed Daniel about whether he will make another James Bond film. He told the newspaper: "It's out of my hands. I'm ready and willing, and if I get the call, I'll be there . . . Unless MGM can sort themselves out, we can't make a movie. It's hard to talk about things that aren't happening. There will be more to say when things are happening. I'm really keen to get going, it's as simple as that. And I'm hoping that, in a while, we will."
